With the Mistral still blowing, we spent most of today at the little private pool that we had all to ourselves (no neighbours to share with) -

with time to contemplate how intensely deep blue the sky is in Provence and loving this vegetation of old olive trees, lavender and rosemary

In the late afternoon we drove into Saint Remy de Provence - by now warm and windless - for a wander round the town. My eye caught by the giant plane trees and bold colours of the south -

We didn't stop at any of these colourful bistrots, though - we were headed for Le Saint Remy behind this ornate archway -

for dinner in their courtyard under the trees, next to a deep blue fountain

The amuse bouches were exceptional and a visual treat

I had to capture each one, as they were tiny works of visual and gastronomic art -

The last not for me, as these were little encased escargots, but how exquisite this presentation was -

We each had a mousse of petits pois -

And all this before we'd even had our entrée

Our plat was a shared whole grilled turbot, filleted by our waiter

With a sauce vierge and crispy potatoes, this was heaven

Driving back to Eygalières the sky was turning pink along the plane tree-lined road

to reach our room by sunset
