 This morning we left Burgundy in drizzling rain to drive south on the Autoroute du Soleil. A couple of hours later we were beginning to despair,  as soleil was nowhere to be seen and it was still raining steadily.

But finally, south of Lyon, as the A7 runs along the bank of the Rhône, blue skies emerged and the temperature had climbed a good 10 degrees.

At Domaine La Pierre Blanche outside Eygalières there were the lavender and olive trees of the south -

We installed ourselves in our room, which turned out to be the exact same one we'd had in September last year, with a little covered deck and a view to a small private pool -

- and headed over to the big pool until dinner, where only the Mistral blowing its heart out was less than perfect.
