30 June 2026
As June came to an end I found it interesting to look back through my photos to see what I'd been doing in June over the last 10 years. Quite a lot, as it turned out.
June 2016
There was Lake Bled in Slovenia, where we had lunch at Tito's house looking onto the lake -
and Miramare castle on the Adriatic coast, after driving back from Trieste -
June 2017
Here we were crossing the Pyrenees, around Lescun -
and here stopping to admire a caballero with his horse in the streets of Cordoba -
June 2018
On the Scandinavian expedition this was Fjällbacka on Sweden's west coast where we stayed in the timber framed B&B of a local hairdresser -
June 2019
In a year that was intense with travel (we had no idea what was coming in 2020, so it was as though I had some unconscious urge to pack as much in as I possibly could before it all stopped), these were two destinations in June alone:
India - here driving through Agra, about 230 kms from Delhi -
June 2020
The world had shut down, and so my world shrank to solitary walks with my dog in Battersea Park -
June 2021
After getting my second vaccine at St Thomas' Hospital, I walked along the Covid Memorial Wall, stretching from Westminster Bridge to Lambeth Bridge. With over 250,000 individually painted hearts, each representing a life lost to Covid.
And we marched again - this time for Palestine -
June 2022
In a vaccinated world we travelled through Normandy to Brittany -
and I took students to Berlin to meet refugees from Ukraine -
June 2023
There were hot summer days and nights in London -
June 2024
We made a memorable trip south to Ticino, Switzerland - here the lovely Morcote on Lake Lugano -
And here walking alongside Lake Silvaplana with the clouds of Sils Maria -
June 2025
We revisited Salzburg -
